Marin creates a field of dreams for Willow Glen eighth-graders

In previous years the eighth-grade grove, the lot that the eighth-graders at Willow Glen Middle School have adopted as their own, was bare and messy. Students’ clothes would be covered with dirt and dust during in the spring and mud during the rainy season.
This year, thanks to the school’s human relations administrator, Hector Marin, the students have a beautiful, clean, green area, which has been nicknamed “Hector’s Field of Dreams.” Students use this section of campus to socialize, play, eat lunch and do their homework.
“The kids love it,” Marin says. “It’s just a totally different atmosphere now.”
